The show brings striking and emotional arrangements to the repertoire of classics from the veteran’s work that the ensemble performs at the BNDES Cultural Space, in Rio de Janeiro. The production is available on the app TV Brasil Play and in Channel YouTube.

During the performance, the Rio Quarteto uses instruments and voices to rescue compositions by Chico Buarque. The performance brings together songs such as Despite You, Bye Bye Brazil, Tribute to the Trickster and Future Loversamong other hits.

Known for valuing bossa nova and MPB, the vocal and instrumental group is formed by Eloi Vicente (guitar and vocals), Neil Teixeira (bass and vocals), Leandro Freixo (keyboard and vocals) and Hernane Castro (drums and vocals).

Highlighted at the Brazilian Music Awards in 2017 and 2018, Quarteto do Rio was created a decade ago, in 2016, by the remnants of the last formation of the traditional group Os Cariocas. Founded 80 years ago, in 1946, the original ensemble had maestro Severino Filho as its first voice.

About the program

Launched in 2007, the Music Scene is a program of TV Brasil which brings unprecedented performances of national music to the public. Since 2017, the presentations have been recorded at the BNDES Cultural Space, in Rio de Janeiro. The production with a weekly window brings shows that reveal diversity and celebrate the richness of Brazilian sound.

The program is run by Bia Aparecida, singer, journalist and public channel presenter. Directed by Maíra de Assis and Waldecir de Oliveira, Cena Musical brings together shows by stars such as the late Jards Macalé and names like Elba Ramalho, Joyce Moreno, Francis Hime, Olivia Hime, Gilson Peranzzetta, Geraldo Azevedo, Marcos Valle and Zé Katimba, as well as groups such as MPB4, Quarteto do Rio and Arranco de Varsóvia.
