He noted that, under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, his mission is to contribute to making his country “safer, stronger and more prosperous,” an objective that is achieved by strengthening the relationship with friendly nations such as Peru.

He highlighted that both countries share 200 years of relations, as well as common values such as freedom, democracy and free trade.

  • A priority relationship

As a second point, he emphasized that Peru has special importance for US foreign policy. He indicated that his appointment as political ambassador reflects the strategic relevance of the bilateral relationship, and that joint work between both nations is a priority.

Thirdly, he pointed out that there is a broad work agenda between both countries, guided by shared values and focused on the promotion of freedom, trade, innovation, security and cooperation.

In this context, he highlighted the presence of representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce of Peru (AMCHAM) and expressed his intention to work closely with the business sector.

The ambassador also announced that, after presenting his credentials, he will seek to maintain a constant and productive dialogue with the different actors in the country.

As a personal gesture, he reported that his first family activity will be to visit the Lima church where he married, the Virgen del Pilar, and that he is excited about eating chifa.

The diplomat closed his speech with a message of faith and friendship between both nations, invoking blessings for the United States and Peru.
