One of River Plate's most successful presidents dies

Alfredo Davicce, former president of River Plate (1989-1997), died this Friday at the age of 96, as reported by the millionaire club through social networks, in which he highlighted the nine titles won by the club during his management.

“We regret the death of Alfredo Davicce, who was president of River between 1989 and 1997, a period in which the club won 9 titles,” River announced on its social network profile X.

“We accompany their families and loved ones in these moments of pain and sadness”he added in the message, which was accompanied by a photo of Davicce in front of the club’s iconic stadium, the Monumental.

During his management, River established champion of the Copa Libertadores (1996) and the Super Cup (1997) and harvested seven local titles, including a three-time championship between 1996 and 1997making him one of the most successful presidents in the club’s history.

That team that achieved continental glory was led by Ramon Diaz and had figures like Hernán Crespo, Ariel Ortega, Germán Burgos and the Uruguayan Enzo Francescoli.
