A subject who took advantage of the family bond and vulnerability of a minor was sentenced to 22 years and six months in prison, after being found responsible for a crime of sexual assault that occurred in the district of Puerto Bermúdez, province of Oxapampa.
The sentence was obtained by the Mixed Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Puerto Bermúdez against Carlos MF (25), who committed the acts to the detriment of his 12-year-old cousin, in August 2015, in the native community of Shiringamazú.
According to the prosecutor’s investigation, the convicted man would have emotionally manipulated the minor and took advantage of the family closeness to take her to different points in the area, where he committed repeated illegal acts. The situation was kept hidden until the victim managed to communicate what happened to his father, who filed a complaint with the authorities.
During the judicial process, the deputy provincial prosecutor Sergio Grasiani Salas Macotela, together with the provincial prosecutor Yovana Quinto Corilloclla, supported the accusation with decisive evidence that made it possible to prove the criminal responsibility of the accused.
The Supraprovincial Collegiate Criminal Court of La Merced ordered, in addition to the effective sentence, the payment of five thousand soles as civil reparation. The convicted man is currently serving his sentence in the Chanchamayo prison.
