In just over a month Cubans will be able to use their mobile line abroad through the outbound international roaming service, known as roaming.
This was reported by the Telecommunications Company of Cuba SA (Etecsa)according to which The service will be available from March 1st and can be used in 174 countriesalthough with particularities depending on the case.
As explained by Etecsa in an informative note, the service will allow users make and receive calls, send SMS and access mobile internetaccording to the contracted plan, in nations with roaming agreements.
Added to this is the use of Transfermóvil without additional costs.
However, in all countries the service will not be the same because “it depends on the availability of calls, SMS, data over 2G, 3G or 4G,” the statement notes. cited by Granma.
Automatic activation
The state telecommunications company, which last year was the center of a notorious controversy over the so-called “tarifazo”specified that Activation will be automatic when the customer turns on their phone in the destination country and the device detects an associated network.
Each plan will have a validity of 30 days from first usewith the possibility of accumulation of resources if a new plan is acquired before expiration.
Etecsa detailed that roaming resources can only be used outside the national territory and that some services, such as call forwarding or reverse charging, will not be enabled during roaming.
However, he confirmed that Transfermóvil can be used from abroad with all its usual functionalities.
The company recalled that customers will be able to check the status of the service by dialing 222762# and access 24-hour specialized assistance via email and WhatsApp.
