The 1st Court of Control of Amazonas decreed deprivation of liberty for José Armando Agrimo Rey (52), for his alleged responsibility in the death of the young Edwin David García Gutiérrez (18) and the injuries caused to a 29-year-old woman, the Prosecutor’s Office reported.
The event occurred on January 18 on Rómulo Gallegos Avenue in the Antonio José de Sucre Commune, Atures municipality in the state of Amazonas. In the early hours of that day, Agrimo Rey was traveling under the influence of alcohol aboard a motorcycle with the woman, when he made an improper turn that obstructed the circulation of the young man, who was traveling on his motorcycle at excess speed.
In such a situation, both vehicles collided, causing García Gutiérrez to lose his life at the scene, while the worker’s companion was injured.
After various investigations, the man’s responsibility for the incident was determined, which is why he was arrested.
During the presentation hearing, prosecutors charged Agrimo Rey with the crimes of intentional homicide by way of possible intent and serious personal injury by way of possible intent.
