The clashes, field orders and switching of the first three phases of the 2026 Copa do Brasil were defined by draw this Wednesday (28), at the CBF headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro. The tournament will bring together 126 teams in total, with only 28 of them starting to compete in the first phase, starting on February 18th.
This year’s edition, with 34 more teams than last year’s edition, will distribute two places for the Copa Libertadores (champion and runner-up) and will have nine knockout stages, the first four with single games. Clubs from Series A of the Brazilian Championship will enter the dispute in the fifth stage of the Copa do Brasil – the start of the round-trip games –, scheduled for the end of April.

The 14 duels in the first phase will be between the teams with the lowest score in the National Club Ranking (RNC), prepared by the CBF. The classified teams will join 74 other clubs that will compete in the second stagetotaling 88 teams. THE The third stage will bring together the 44 classified in the previous stage and also the champions of Copa Verde (Paysandu), Copa Nordeste (runner-up Confiança inherited the place from Bahia, winner), Série C (Ponte Preta) and Série D.
The fourth phase is scheduled for March 18-19, with the 24 classified in the previous stage. In the fifth stage of the Copa do Brasil, the 20 clubs from Series A enter the competition: Flamengo, Fluminense, Vasco, Botafogo, Palmeiras, Corinthians, São Paulo, Santos, Bragantino, Mirassol, Atlético-MG, Cruzeiro, Internacional, Grêmio, Athletico-PR, Coritiba, Bahia, Vitória, Remo and Chapecoense. The national football elite joins the 14 classified in the fourth stage. The single matches will be on April 22nd and 23rd (first games) and May 13th and 14th (return).
From the round of 16 onwards, with the exception of the title decision, the field teams will be defined by draw. The calendar foresees the round of 16 dispute on August 1st and 2nd (first games), and August 5th and 6th (return). The fourths will take place on August 26th and 27th (outbound) and September 2nd and 3rd (return). The semi-finals are scheduled for November 1st and 8th. The Copa do Brasil 2026 title decision, on December 6, will be held in a stadium to be defined by the CBF, at least 30 days in advance.
