The authorities confirmed on Tuesday afternoon the discovery of the Satena aircraft that had been reported missing while covering the Cúcuta-Ocaña route. The information was delivered by the Security Secretariat of Norte de Santander around 4:30 pm, after several hours of intense search in an area that is difficult to access.

According to the preliminary report, the accident left no survivors. In the accident, all the occupants of the small plane HK-4709 died, which unleashed deep consternation among family members, authorities and the country’s aeronautical community.
Among the victims are Captain Daniel Vanegas and the copilot Jose de la Vegaas well as passengers Natalia Cristina Acosta Salcedo, María Tocoroma Álvarez Barbosa, María Alejandra Avendaño Rincón, María del Carmen Díaz Rodríguez, Anirley Julio Osorio, Juan David Pacheco Mejía, Karen Liliana Perales Vera, Rolando Enrique Peñalosa Gualdrón, Diógenes Quintero, Ana Yisel Quintero, Jineth Rincón, Carlos Salcedo and María Alejandra Sánchez Criado.
The aircraft was scheduled to land at 12:15 noon in Ocaña; However, minutes before reaching its destination, contact with the crew was lost, which immediately activated the emergency and search protocols by the competent organizations.
Rescue teams worked for hours in complex conditions to locate the device, until its location and the magnitude of the tragedy were finally confirmed. Work now focuses on inspecting the impact site and collecting key information to clarify what happened.
Satena and the authorities reiterated their solidarity with the families of the victims, while investigations continue to determine the causes of the accident. The event leaves Norte de Santander in mourning and leaves a deep void in those who were waiting for the arrival of the aircraft.
