Industriales and Artemisa advance to the semifinals of the National Series

Two other places in the semi-finals of 64 National Baseball Series (SNB) were defined this Tuesday, after the triumphs of the Leones de Industrial and Hunters of Artemis.

In both cases it was the fourth success for these teams at the start of the postseason.

At the Nelson Fernández stadium, those led by Guillermo Carmona drowned out the hopes of the followers of the Hurricanes of Mayabeque. The Blues managed to advance to the next phase by beating the locals with a score of 5-3, according to the report of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

To seal their qualification for the semifinals, the capital team turned to the arm of reliever Rafael Orlando Perdomo, who stopped the rebellion of the Hurricanes. But the final sentence of the crash came in its ninth inning, thanks to a full return hit by Yasmani Tomás with a teammate on board.

This homer was one of the five hits of the day for the slugger from Havana, who thus clinched the defeat of Marlon Vega, acting as firefighter.

The home team had managed to take advantage of three scores in the first third of the match against the deliveries of starter Remberto Barreto and his rescuer Andy Vargas, but from then on they were unable to get the score moving again.

Meanwhile, the Lions began the reaction little by little until they balanced the actions in the fifth inning, supported by a double by Yasser Julio González and a sacrifice fly from the bat of Alfredo Hechevarría.

Hunters take the prey

In a game that had been sealed by rain the previous day, Artemisa got another place in the discussion of the National Series medals.

When the game resumed, the Artemiseños had a 2-0 lead over the Holguín Cubs, but they achieved parity in the seventh inning after Ernesto Torres hit an RBI single, reports the ACN.

However, in the lower part of that inning the Cazadores finished off their rivals by making a cluster of three runs, from an RBI hit by Osbel Pacheco and another by Osmel Solano that pushed two teammates towards the plate.

Israel Sánchez left from the bullpen to achieve success, although two runs produced by a Nelson Batista home run went up to his record.

Veteran José Ángel García was in charge of getting the last three outs of the duel to extend his saves of the season to 14 and confirm himself as the historical leader in that department.

Both Artemiseños and Havana also secured a place in the next edition of the Cuban Elite Baseball League (LEBC) and they joined the Crocodiles of Matanzas, previously classified for the semifinals after prevailing in their fight against the Gallos of Sancti Spíritus.

In this way, the prelude to the dispute for the scepter was left with only one vacant place. The Azucareros of Villa Clara and the current monarchs Leñadores of Las Tunas are fighting for it, in a series that favors the first 3-2 and that could have its definition this Wednesday.
