Moments of tension were experienced this Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Las Acacias I/S, at the intersection of Fuerzas Aires and Aragua avenues in Maracay, when a unit of the Santa Rita Line suddenly exploded after completing its recharging of natural gas vehicles (NGV).
The incident, which occurred around 2:30 pm, activated an immediate response from the Aragua Firefighters and Civil Protection. Thanks to the rapid evacuation of the area, the accident ended without leaving any victims to regret, although the main vehicle was declared a total loss.
Despite the magnitude of the detonation, which generated a shock wave that reached other nearby vehicles, the authorities confirmed a white balance: no victims or injuries were reported.
The rapid mobilization of the Aragua Firefighters, Civil Protection and the PNB made it possible to control the flames and cordon off the area before the situation escalated.
Currently, experts from the competent agencies are working at the scene of the accident to carry out the technical survey. The objective is to determine if the failure originated in the unit’s gas storage system or in the station’s dispensing protocols.
