Social movements in Brazil demand the release of President Maduro

Different social movements from Brazil gathered outside the United States (US) embassy, in the South American giant, to demand the release of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped on January 3 after the attack against Venezuela.

The protesters concentrated in the capital pointed out that these actions not only affect the sovereignty of Venezuela, but also threaten the stability of all of Latin America.

Porto Alegre also raised its voice

In the south of the country, the city of Porto Alegre joined the day of national mobilization under the slogan “Trump Forum of Latin America.” Various social movements, political parties and Brazilian unions demanded a response of regional unity in the face of Washington’s aggressions.

During the activity, the spokesmen stressed that the defense of the presidential couple is a priority for progressive forces. Likewise, they stated that the US siege seeks to break the will of the people fighting for their self-determination.

São Paulo mobilized against the violation of international law

In the city of São Paulo, voices in support of Venezuela were also strongly felt. The protesters demanded the immediate freedom of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, while strongly rejecting the diplomatic and economic siege imposed against Venezuela from abroad.

The mobilization in this metropolis highlighted that the Trump administration’s siege is a direct violation of international law. The participating groups confirmed that they will maintain active solidarity to protect the sovereignty of the neighboring country and peace in the region.
