The Special Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court admitted the complaint he filed for processing Delia Espinoza Valenzuela against the president of Congress, Fernando Rospigliosifor the alleged crime of defamation. Espinoza requests that Rospigliosi be sentenced to 2 years and 4 months of imprisonment; as well as the sum of one million soles as civil reparation.
The complaint was admitted for processing because it complies with the formal and legal requirements demanded by the Criminal Procedure Code, says the resolution issued by the judge. Norma Carbajal Chavezthe same one that indicated that Espinoza is entitled to exercise private criminal action, being the person directly referred to with Ropigliosi’s expressions.
The complaint filed by Delia Espinoza responds to the fact that Fernando Rospigliosi, between the months of July and September 2025, issued statements against the outgoing prosecutor in which he described her as an “ally of terrorism”, “pro-terrorist”, “pro-criminal” and “deranged”.
According to him Espinozathe qualifiers were spread through social networks, as well as in programs on Canal N, Panamericana TelevisiĂłn and Willax, which is why he filed the measure considering that such expressions exceed the limits of political criticism and seriously affect his honor and reputation.
Given this situation, Espinoza sent a notarized letter to Rospigiliosi so that he could publicly rectify himself; However, the Fujimori congressman described the initiative as a threat, which is why he reiterated his position in subsequent publications and interviews.
