The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, expressed – on behalf of the President (E), Delcy Rodríguez – his deepest condolences to the family, friends and people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the sensitive death of Roland Lumumba.
Through a message published on his Telegram channel, Gil stated that the Bolivarian nation received with deep sadness the news of the death of the African leader, whom he described as a man tirelessly dedicated to the search for justice.
Roland Lumumba was the son of the martyr Patrice Lumumba, former prime minister and historical figure of African anti-colonialism, assassinated on January 17, 1961.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted that this fighter maintained, until his last breath, a firm commitment of solidarity with the Venezuelan people, President Nicolás Maduro and the Bolivarian Revolution. His work was fundamental as a bridge between Mother Africa and Our America.
