Current six-time continental champions, the Corinthians women’s football team faces Gotham FC (United States) this Wednesday (28), at 9:30 am (Brasília time), in the semi-finals of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Champions Cup, the first women’s world club tournament organized by FIFA. The decisive match will take place at Gtech Community, Brentfort’s stadium, in London. The North American opponent was the winner of the Concacaf Champions Cup last season.
Two other teams will also debut directly in the tournament semi-finals on Wednesday (28). At 3pm, the Arsenal team (England), winners of the European Champions League, will face ASFAR (Morocco), champions of the African Champions League.
The finalists will decide the first Women’s Club World Cup title next Sunday (February 1st), at 3pm, at Arsenal’s stadium, the Emirates Stadium, in London. Before that, starting at 11:45 am, there will be a third place dispute with the teams defeated in the semi-finals.

The world club champion team will receive a prize of US$ 2.3 million (around R$ 12 million) and the second place team will pocket US$ 1 million (R$ 5.2 million). The semi-finalists’ prize will be US$200,000 (R$1 million).
The first round of the Champions Cup began in October, when Wuhan Chegu Jiangda (China) – Asian champion – defeated the team from Auckland (New Zealand), champion of Oceania, 1-0. Then, in December, the Chinese team was eliminated from the competition by ASFAR – a 2-1 defeat – which qualified for the semi-finals.
