Alleged members of the Santa Rosa de Lima cartel (CSRL) would have committed the armed attack on a soccer field in Salamanca, Guanajuato, on Sunday, which left 11 dead and 12 injured. Five of the deceased would be linked to the Jalisco cartel New Generation (CJNG)according to the federal security cabinet.
According to the investigations, the attack was attributed to a cell headed by Moisés Soto, of the shock group The Browns, under the command of Mario Eleazar Lara, Black either Camorro I Rooster, who is dedicated to distributing drugs, as well as committing homicides and extortion in Irapuato, Guanajuato, and is a target sought by authorities.
Furthermore, prior to the events, two cards attributed to the CSRL were seized, in which a dispute with the CJNG.
Lara is identified as a generator of violence in the Guanajuato municipalities of Irapuato, Salamanca and Celaya. He also has a current arrest warrant for homicide qualified for execution of sentence.
He is also related to kidnapping, extortion, murder, drug sales and forced disappearance of people.
Last Sunday, around 5 p.m., an armed commando shot at a group of people who were living together in one of the soccer fields in the Loma de Flores community, in the northern area of the Salamanca municipal seat.
The municipal government announced yesterday that in addition to the deaths there were 12 injured in the attack, although the State Attorney General’s Office reported that it had preliminarily identified six injured people.
At this time it is unknown if there are more people injured in private clinics, or who did not require hospital care.
In this context, the Guanajuato Health Secretariat reported that it discharged two people who were injured. The agency reported that four individuals remain hospitalized, with a reserved diagnosis.
Guanajuato Prosecutor’s Office handles the case
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo pointed out that the investigation into the massacre that occurred in Salamanca, Guanajuato, is being handled by the state prosecutor’s office.
In her morning conference, the president briefly referred to the case as an express question. He maintained that the security cabinet works in coordination with state authorities to find those responsible.
“The governor herself (Libia García Muñoz Ledo) and the Attorney General’s Office of the state of Guanajuato made a statement. And the government of Mexico, through the (security) cabinet, is in coordination with them, to be able to find those responsible. We would ask the cabinet to provide more information,” he said.
When asked if, due to the way the attack developed, the case could be brought to the Attorney General’s Office, Sheinbaum replied: “At this moment, it is being handled by the Guanajuato prosecutor’s office.” And he closed without giving more details.
For her part, PAN governor Libia García reported that security was reinforced in Salamanca, and offered to act firmly to arrest those responsible for the multiple murder, which she called “an unacceptable fact that deeply hurts Guanajuato families.”
Likewise, the state leader announced that after the massacre “a joint operation was activated with the municipality, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Guanajuato and federal forces to care for the victims, secure the area and move forward with determination in the investigation.”
