The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Guilherme Boulos, stated this Tuesday (27) that he expects the end of the 6×1 scale to be approved this semester. According to him, the federal government is committed to reducing the weekly workload and increasing free time for workers.
“I hope this can be guided [para votação no Congresso Nacional]approved and promulgated by President Lula in this first semester, so that Brazilian workers have peace, rest and can have time with their family for leisure, for care, which is the basics for anyone”, said the minister.
Boulos held a press conference after participating in an event at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), in Rio de Janeiro, for the creation of a Maré Technical Working Group that should formulate policies for the Maré Complex, in the north of Rio.
“We are going to end the 6×1 scale in Brazil. This is a need for Brazilian workers”, he stated.
Boulos said he is working, with the Ministry of Labor, in favor of change and that he has already met and will hold conversations “in the coming weeks” with the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB) to discuss the issue.
226 signatures
The end of the 6×1 scale is foreseen in Constitutional Amendment Proposal No. 8/2025 presented to the Chamber of Deputies in February last year and signed by 226 deputies – with deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL/SP), a supporter of Boulos, being the author of the proposal and first signatory.
Asked by journalists about the possible resistance among big businesspeople to the change in workload, Boulos assessed that “the big businessman being against it is no surprise”.
“When was a big businessman in favor of workers’ rights? I’ve never seen it in history. If it had depended on them, it would have been 7×0. If it had depended on many of them, the Golden Law wouldn’t even have been enacted in this country.”
At the end of last year, Palácio do Planalto “eradicated a 6×1 scale” for outsourced workers at the Presidency of the Republic, such as the staff who provide pantry and cleaning services.
“There are hundreds of workers at Palácio do Planalto and, in December, we signed the end of the 6×1 scale. All of these workers are at most on the 5×2 scale”, guaranteed Boulos.
