The program National Afternoon SPfrom the National Radiowas chosen by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA) as the best cultural radio program of 2025. The announcement was made on Monday night (26), in an assembly held at the Union of Professional Journalists of the State of São Paulo. The 70th awards ceremony, with the delivery of trophies, is scheduled for May, at the Teatro Sérgio Cardoso, in the capital of São Paulo.
“In the year in which it celebrates 90 years, the National Radio receives the first gift, which is this very important award from APCA. Congratulations to all the employees involved in producing the program, which is already an example of success in public communication. The award is also a recognition of the bond that National Afternoon SPwhich debuted in 2024, has already created with the São Paulo public – a very important square that is a priority for this management”, says the president of Brazilian Communication Company (EBC), André Basbaum.
The executive manager of EBC radiosThiago Regotto, reinforces that the achievement has special significance as it is precisely part of the celebrations surrounding the nine decades of existence of the National Radio.
“This is the first year that the broadcaster has been nominated and has already emerged the winner, with a program that was born from the willpower and dedication of two professionals from the EBCwho produce, present and operate the attraction. This work was essential for the São Paulo National Radio stop being just a retransmitter and become a generator of local content, in direct dialogue with the largest city in Latin America”, he says.
On air from Monday to Friday, from 3pm to 5pm, the National Afternoon SP is transmitted by dial from the São Paulo National Radio, on 87.1 FM. Listeners from other locations can also check out the show live on website and in the app EBC Radios. Radio production features interviews, service provision, reports and a cultural agenda with a focus on Greater São Paulo. The program also has columns with musical news, literary finds and the formation of the city’s cultural identity.

We also opened up space in local programming to talk about cinema, literature and theater, giving an overview of the cultural richness of the largest city in Latin America. According to Guilherme Strozi, journalist at EBC and who is in charge of the afternoon radio attraction together with Victor Ribeiro, the National Afternoon SP seeks to dialogue with the population of the country’s largest city with traditional and contemporary Brazilian music, in addition to offering critical journalism, service, interviews with important personalities from the capital and columns on literature, alternative music, cinema and technology.

Without Censorship won APCA in 2025
This is the second consecutive year that an attraction from a EBC wins the APCA Award. In 2025, the Uncensoredfrom the TV Brasilwas chosen as Best Television Program. Presented by Cissa Guimarães, it airs from Monday to Thursday, live, from 4pm to 6pm, and has special editions every Friday, at the same time. This year, the production was also among the finalists for the APCA Award in its category.
