
Students of the School of Political and Administrative Studies of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) –the main one in the country– They asked this Monday that there is diversity of actors in the Program for coexistence and peaceinstalled on Friday, in which the acting president, Delcy Rodríguezcalled on a new dialogue process.
“Peace is built among a wide range of actors that today are not represented in those spaces.” and we must access there and we must raise our voices and we must organize and articulate ourselves the unions, the sectors, the businessmen, the students”pointed out the president of the student center, Israel Rodriguezin a press conference at the UCV.
Rodríguez said he sees with concern the installation of this program because, he maintained, The Venezuelan academy was not includedwhich is why he questioned whether it is a process “symbolic”.
“We citizens are necessary to push for what we really want.”because Peace nor democracy are built with the stroke of a pen in Miraflores (government headquarters) or for an order that comes from outside the country”he added.
Furthermore, he indicated that all Venezuelans have the “giant challenge” of reaching agreement and “push for a transition process towards democracy”.
For its part, Samuel Borges, advisor of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the UCVpointed out that for there to be a transition in Venezuela, the “opening of civic space”with the release of all political prisonersas well as attend social and economic issues like him salary and other benefits for college students.
“Freedom for all political prisoners, inclusion of the university in the dialogue process and also that this university be taken into account “not only in the dialogue process, but in the reconstruction of the country”he stressed.
On Friday, the president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguezproposed to convene a “true political dialogue” that includes both “coinciding” and “divergent” political sectorsa task he entrusted to his brother and President of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.
The call was made during the installation of the Program for coexistence and peacewhich will be coordinated by – Rodríguez said – the Minister of Culture, Ernesto Villegasand composed of officials, businessmen and academicsalthough he maintained that the list was not closed.
As he explained then, the idea is “make a 100 day plan”whose “first task” will be the “mapping of political, economic and social violence and hatred” in Venezuelaalthough He did not specify when it begins.
