The SNTP explained that Alvarado’s lawyers had filed an appeal denouncing the violation of the principle of immediacy, which requires the physical and continuous presence of the judge during the hearings to guarantee a fair assessment of the evidence and the right to defense. Furthermore, they had anticipated that the accused crime was not proven.
The young man was arrested on March 20 of last year and accused of treason for reporting on his social networks and through the VenApp application (created by the Venezuelan government) that sewage was overflowing in his community and that the electrical transformers were damaged.
