Tragedy in Mexico: "It is a regrettable and cowardly attack and those responsible will be found"

The mayor of the Mexican city of Salamanca, Cesar Prietoattacked the violent people who attacked and murdered eleven people and left many others injured in a soccer stadium. A woman and a child were among those injured in the “regrettable and cowardly” attack in the community of Loma de Flores during an event, Prieto wrote on Facebook, describing the incident as a serious social breakdown.

“This fact adds to a wave of violence that we are unfortunately experiencing in the state and particularly in Salamanca,” he added. “Unfortunately, there are criminal groups trying to subdue the authority, which they are not going to achieve.”

An investigation has been launched into the attack, said the attorney general’s office in the state of Guanajuato, where Salamanca is located. The prosecutor’s office was coordinating efforts with municipal, state and federal authorities to reinforce security in the area, protect its inhabitants and find the probable perpetrators, he added in a statement. “Those responsible will be found,” Prieto added in his comments on Facebook. Guanajuato is one of the most dangerous states in Mexico.
