Not even 24 hours have passed since the complaint of discrimination by Matamba, that social networks were flooded with messages of support for the singer and reproach the restaurant that allegedly denied him service because of his clothing. Among the hundreds of Internet users who echoed the case, is the Minister of the Government, Eduardo del Castillo, who asked the Vice Minister of Decolonization and Depatriarchalization, Pelagio Condori, to take “hands on the matter.”

“I include myself in Matamba’s outrage at the flagrant act of discrimination and racism he suffered in a restaurant in Santa Cruz where he was not allowed to celebrate his own brother’s birthday, supposedly because he was not ‘dressed for the occasion,'” wrote the authority in their social networks.

“Bolivia has changed. Those who believe that racism and discrimination are still acceptable must understand that racists have no space in this country. The Vice Minister of Decolonization will be discussed so that action can be taken on the matter,” he added.

This Wednesday night, the Bolivian singer denounced, through a video on the networks, that he was asked to leave a Santa Cruz restaurant because he was not wearing sleeves. The artist was wearing a jersey belonging to an NBA team, which effectively left his shoulders uncovered, but, as he was able to show in the audiovisual, he was not the only person in the place with a similar garment, since even the owner wore a dress that showed that part of the body.

“I can’t even speak because of the pain and sadness. It’s frightening that in this time of so much progress, of so much struggle that is being made to try to make us walk a little more equal… and you know me, these things are not I have never done in twenty-odd years of career, but that they discriminate against you because your shoulders are visible… I don’t know, I hope it wasn’t because my color is a little darker or because I have some extra drawing. (… ) Obviously I’m going to file a complaint,” he said.
