Brazil only depended on a draw against Argentina to win the third consecutive year in the South-Central American Handball Championship, in Asunción (Paraguay). But, by a difference of one goal, scored by Giménez 13 seconds before the end of the game, the cup went to the South American arch-rival. On Saturday night (24), Amarelinha was beaten 26 to 25 by the Argentines, in the last round of the straight points tournament.
Amarelinha ended the campaign in second place overall, with eight points, two less than Argentina. It was the second title for the brothers, champions for the first time in the inaugural edition, in 2023.
The competition distributed four places for the 2027 World Cup in Germany. In addition to Argentines and Brazilians, Chileans and Uruguayans also qualified. In the final round, Chile secured the bronze medal by defeating Paraguay 36-29. The last spot in the World Cup went to Uruguay, who beat Peru 36-17.
