The Ministry of Health published Epidemiological Report No. 158 on Wednesday afternoon, which reflects, for the second consecutive week, an increase in the number of active cases nationwide, surpassing the barrier of 14 thousand infections.
According to the report, at the country level 14,388 active cases of Covid-19 are registered, which means an increase of 1,917 infections compared to last week -where 12,471 cases were reported- ranking as the highest figure since July 19, 2021.
Of that figure, 7,889 are from the Metropolitan Region, which registered an increase of 11.2% compared to last week where 7,025 were notified.
The Valparaíso Region is in second place with 1,265 cases, while all the other regions have less than a thousand active cases, highlighting among the highest Biobío with 942 and Maule with 695. On the other hand, Magallanes is the only region with less than 100 active cases (51).
Regarding higher incidence rates of active cases, the regions of Aysén (100.7), Metropolitana (97.1) and Tarapacá (88.8) are the ones that lead this list.
At the communal level, there are 54 that have an asset incidence rate greater than 100 at the country level, which are led by Futaleufú (1,069.1), Chaitén (398.4) and Tocopilla (288.5).
Meanwhile, Maipú (587), Santiago (546) and Puente Alto (490) lead the top three of the most active communes in Chile. These are followed by Antofagasta (301), Las Condes (284), La Florida (280) and Pudahuel (262). In parallel, 43 communes have 0 active cases.
