Rescue brigades located a fourth body this Thursday in the town center of Retamas, province of Pataz, in La Libertad, where a hill collapsed last Tuesday, March 15. The remains found belong to Edith Quiñonez Torres, indicated Canal N.
It was reported that Edith Quiñonez is the wife of Rolando Robles Ramírez (32), who was found dead along with his one-month-old son. These last two were found yesterday, Wednesday, March 16.
This increases the number of deaths to four: Edith Quinonez Torres, Santiago Indalecio Vasquez (62 years old), Rolando Robles Ramirez (32) and a baby just one month old.
The rescue work continues in a local market that has ended up partially buried by the immense amount of land and debris that has fallen.
Rescuers have made holes in the walls to reach houses near the market that also ended up buried. In these it is expected to find more missing.
The emergency has so far left 6 people injured, 14 homeless, 30 affected, 7 houses destroyed, 15 houses affected, 1 commercial establishment destroyed and 100 meters of water pipes destroyed.
What happened in Retamas?
More than 30 families were evacuated by the authorities to temporary shelters since Tuesday 15when a landslide was recorded, as a result of intense rains, which buried several homes in the town of Retamas, district of Parcoy, province of Pataz, in the La Libertad region. The collapse leaves, so far, four dead.
Some 26 families were taken Wednesday night to the Retamas sports slab, while the others are installed in the local Ricardo Palma educational institution. The District Municipality of Parcoy, in collaboration with the Regional Government of La Libertad, has provided them with tents, mattresses and blankets to protect them from the rain and cold.
