Santo Domingo.— Various academic, technical and public management sectors promote the economist Enmanuel Rodríguez Matías as a proposal to assume the direction of the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA), at a time considered decisive for the future of that institution of technical higher education.
The initiative arises in a context marked by the accelerated digital transformationthe increase in demand for technological talent and the align challenge technical training with the needs of the labor marketas well as with the public policy of innovation and employability.
From the perspective of institutional governance, The proposing sectors point out that Rodríguez’s profile responds to the need for a management with technical capacity, strategic vision and knowledge of the functioning of the public apparatus. Their training in Economics, project management and strategic planning stands out.
Likewise, they highlight their experience in the design, execution and evaluation of institutional plans, competencies that—in the opinion of the promoters—would allow the ITLA governance model to be strengthened, improve its alignment with the State’s priorities and expand its impact on productive development and national competitiveness.
The sectors that support the proposal also value its academic career as a teacher in postgraduate programs in areas such as management, human talent and modern administration, understanding that leadership with a solid academic basis is key to raising the quality of the training offer and updating technological programs.

Likewise, they consider that this profile could contribute to strengthening the link between technical education, the productive sector and public policies aimed at generating employment.
Among the supporters of the proposal are the teacher José Antonio García y Freddy, linked to the Loyola Technological Institute; teacher Belquis Morillo, university professor at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD); Mario Antonio Lara Valdez; as well as the National Union of Press Workers (SNTP), through its general secretary in the National District, which reinforces the multisectoral nature of the initiative.
The proponents maintain that an eventual appointment of Rodríguez could contribute to consolidating ITLA as a central axis of the national strategy for innovation, advanced technical training and development of human capital.
So far, the competent authorities have not issued an official position on the appointment of the new management of ITLA, while the issue continues to generate analysis in different institutional spaces.
