Mexico City will carry out three seismic drills throughout 2026, as part of the capital authorities’ strategy to strengthen the culture of prevention and improve emergency response capacity.

According to what was announced this week by the head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada Molina, the The first Drill of 2026 will be held on February 18 at 11:00 a.m. and will be exclusive to Mexico City, with the objective of evaluating protocols, reaction times and coordination between authorities and citizens.
The capital’s president stressed the importance of keeping the population prepared, as it is a city with high seismic activity.
In this context, he reiterated that these exercises allow us to strengthen social organization in the face of possible contingencies and reduce risks in the event of natural disasters.
More drills
In addition to the exercise scheduled for February, the head of Government reported that Two additional drills will be held during the rest of the yearalthough he specified that the dates will be announced in a timely manner.
The decision to carry out three annual drills responds to the need to constantly strengthen the culture of prevention in the country’s capital.
Finally, the capital authorities called for the active participation of the population, as well as public and private institutions, by highlighting that drills are a key tool to save lives and improve emergency response in Mexico City.
