The Brazilian men’s futsal team had a difficult debut against Colombia in the Copa América, held in Luque (Paraguay). After falling behind on the scoreboard, Amarelinha reacted: they managed to draw and led the score, but soon after conceded to a 2-2 draw. With the result, Brazil, the current champion, added just one point on the leaderboard.
The Brazilians, led by coach Marquinhos Xavier, return to the court on Sunday (25), against Bolivia, at 2:30 pm (Brasília time), in Group B, which also includes Chile and Venezuela. The biggest winner of the Copa América, the team is looking for its 12th title in the 15th edition of the tournament. In second place is Argentina, three-time champion.
In Brazil’s debut duel, the Colombians opened the scoring with a goal from Echavarría and then Pito left everything the same for the team in the first half. On the way back from halftime, Marlon found the net and secured the turnaround for the Brazilians. But it didn’t last long: Sánchez scored for Colombia soon after, earning a 2-2 draw.

In the same group B as Amarelinha, Chile scored 4-0 in their debut against Bolivia. The competition in total 10 nations. In bracket A are Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay are on the other side. According to the regulations, the two best teams in the first phase (groups) advance directly to the semifinals.
