Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico have presented in Fitur 2026, in Madrid, the multi-destination campaign‘Together We Are the Caribbean‘, a regional tourism collaboration that marks the beginning of a new stage for the Caribbean positioning in the international markets.
The campaign aims encourage combined tripspromote longer stays, optimize existing air connectivity, expand the presence of both destinations in key markets in Europe and Latin America and strengthen public-private cooperation as a replicable model of regional collaboration.
“TO Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic Many things unite us, such as historythe gastronomythe music and the warmth of our people. We also have a lot to share, make known and celebrate,” said the governor of Puerto Rico, Jennifer Gonzalezin a statement.
González presented the campaign together with the executive director of the Company of Tourism of Puerto Rico (CTPR), Willianette Robles; the president of Discover Puerto Rico, Jorge Perez; and the minister and vice minister of Tourism Dominican, David Collado and Tammy M. Reynoso, respectively.
An important step
Collado maintained that “between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico there is a special connectionforged by historyculture and our caribbean roots“.
“Today we take an important step by presenting a complementary tourist proposalwhich adds strengths and expands the traveler’s experience. With this campaign, we show that together we are more competitivemore attractive and more relevant in the international markets“he highlighted.
Robles, meanwhile, highlighted that ‘Together We Are the Caribbean‘is “the result of a shared vision that is committed to collaboration as a driving force economic growthtourist and cultural”.
“This alliance demonstrates how two destinations with strong identities can strategically complement each other to create a most attractive proposaldiverse and competitive at an international level,” he stated.
Complementary destinations
During the official announcement, a video which set out the objective and scope of the multi-destination campaignas well as the creative concept of the initiative, which was developed in collaboration with Discover Puerto Rico and the Ministry of Tourism Dominican.
“We are very excited about this novel collaboration because it allows us to explore new opportunities for economic development hand in hand with the Dominican brothers. This is a union of purposes in which new products are created and new opportunities are opened in traveler markets,” Pérez said.
Under the concept of ‘Island Hopping‘, the campaign positions Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic as complementary destinations within the same tourism ecosystem.
In this way, it makes it easier for the traveler to explore two Caribbean cultures authentic in a single trip, maximize the value of travel between the islands and enjoy unique contrasts between modernity, historynature, beach, gastronomy and entertainment. EFE
