The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro (PL), dismissed lawyer Deivis Marcon Antunes from the position of director-president of the Single Social Security Fund of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Rioprevidência). The act of dismissal was published yesterday (23) in Official Gazette.
The governor’s decision came after Antunes announced his resignation from office. Yesterday morning (23), the now former CEO was the target of Federal Police search and seizure operation at your residence.
Called Paper Boat and authorized by the 6th Federal Criminal Court, the operation had “the objective of investigating the suspicion of irregular financial operations that exposed the assets of the authority responsible for managing the retirements and pensions of public servants in the state of Rio de Janeiro to a high risk and incompatible with its purpose”, according to a note from the PF.
In addition to Antunes, the Federal Police were also at the residences of the former director of Investments at Rioprevidência, Eucherio Lerner Rodrigues, and the former interim director of Investments, Pedro Pinheiro Guerra Leal.
Seizures
At Antunes’ house, the PF seized a luxury armored vehicle, R$7,000 in cash, a flash drive, watch, and documents for forensic examination. At Rodrigues’ residence, the Federal Police seized R$3,500 in cash, a luxury vehicle, cell phone, notebooks, pen drives and hard drives, as well as documents.
Since November last year, the PF has been investigating the investment of R$970 million by Rioprevidência in Banco Master bonds (financial bills), nine contributions that occurred between November 2023 and July 2024.
Directors of Rioprevidência and Banco Master may have committed “crimes against the national financial system, such as fraudulent management, misappropriation of resources, inducing public authorities to make mistakes and fraud against supervisors or investors, in addition to criminal association and passive corruption”, describes a note from the Federal Police.
Before the resignation and dismissal of Deivis Marcon Antunes, Rioprevidência denied wrongdoing and guaranteed that payments to retirees and pensioners from the single pension fund occur “normally”.
