The Deputy Minister of Justice, John Carrasco Millionsannounced that the Government will go to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IA Court) once they are notified of the ruling of the Constitutional Court (TC) that annulled the judicial decision against the humanitarian pardon that former President Alberto Fujimori received in 2017.
Speaking to the press, he indicated that actions are being coordinated from the Executive Power, for which a team of lawyers has been summoned to the Government Palace to analyze the sentence released by the TC this Thursday.
“We from the Executive are coordinating actions. That is why there is a team of lawyers, Dr. Félix Chero who makes it up, with the purpose of first waiting for the official and formal notification from the TC, and then taking the corresponding actions”he expressed.
“This will mean resorting to international channels, to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and through these means to reverse this ruling of the Constitutional Court that definitively reopens wounds that were already closing”he added.
In this sense, Carrasco Millones affirmed that for the IACHR It is not appropriate to grant a pardon for those who have committed “such serious crimes” as qualified homicide and against humanity.
Thus, for the former Minister of the Interior, “principally”the “murderers and corrupt” They should not be favored with any type of ruling that allows them to be released from prison and not pay civil damages.
“They must serve their sentence and also pay their civil reparations. I believe that the victims of this case are being revictimized with this ruling of the Constitutional Court, since they have not been considered at all in the issuance of this ruling”he underlined.
Finally, Carrasco Millions qualified as “totally outrageous” that the TC has decided to restore the effects of the humanitarian pardon that the former president Peter Paul Kuczynski gave to Alberto Fujimori in December 2017.
“There are constitutional mechanisms to which Peru is going to turn at the moment we are notified and let us also see what are the allegations, the support and foundations of the Constitutional Court to issue this ruling that, definitively for all Peruvians who believe in democracy and justice, it is totally outrageous”sentenced.
