Nursing complaints: The SNS seeks solutions and effective dialogue

Santo Domingo.— With the aim of following up on the claims raised by the nursing unions and open a space for institutional dialogue, the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), doctor Julio Landronheld a meeting with representatives of these organizations, in which he reaffirmed the Government’s interest in meeting the demands of health personnelparticularly in the nursing area.

During the meeting, Landrón recognized the importance of nursing staff within the health systemby pointing out that it constitutes a fundamental pillar in the operation of the country’s hospital centers.

In that sense, He assured that he will carry out the necessary steps to present the unions’ requests to the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.and the vice president and coordinator of the Health CabinetRaquel Peña.

“We must understand the budgetary limitations that the country has due to the non-introduction or approval of a tax reform; in any case, we will make the necessary efforts and diligence so that their claims reach the highest decision-making spaces,” said the head of the SNS.

Likewise, he asked the unions for a waiting period to evaluate, in a workshop tablethe different points raised, which would be presented in the coming days to the Health Cabinet.

The nursing unions agreed to participate in this dialogue process through a workshop table, waiting for a meeting to take place with the President of the Republic and the Health Cabinet.

The director of the SNS highlighted that this government management has been the one that has granted the greatest increases to the Health sectorwith the purpose of settle pending commitments from previous administrations with the healthcare personneland reiterated that the efforts aimed at improving the working conditions of the sector.

Sol Amantina Delgado, from the National Union of Nursing Services, participated in the meeting (UNASED); Jesús Antonio Frías, from the Nursing Association of the Former Dominican Institute of Social Security (ADEIDSS); Secundino Sánchez, president of the National Nursing Coordinator (CONAENDILAG); Aracelis de Salas Alcántara and Roberto Cabrera, from the National Union of Nursing Workers (SINATRAE), as well as representatives of the College of Nursing.
