With an increase of 37% in 2025, compared to the previous year, international tourism in Brazil gained prominence in the latest edition of the World Tourism Barometer, released on Tuesday (20).
The research, which is carried out by the United Nations (UN), shows that the country surpassed destinations that also had strong expansion, such as Egypt, with 20%; Morocco, 14%; and Seychelles Islands, with a 13% increase. According to the report, more than 1.5 billion tourists traveled internationally in 2025, almost 60 million more than recorded in 2024.
Attractive Brazil
Last year, Brazil recorded a record number of foreign tourist arrivals, with 9.3 million visitors arriving in the national territory, exceeding the annual target of 6.9 million set out in the National Tourism Plan 2024-2027.
The Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Feliciano, explained that Brazil has attractions like no other destination in the world and this, according to him, attracts the desire of tourists from abroad to get to know the beauty, culture, gastronomy and Brazilian people.

For the president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, the UN Tourism figures confirm that the strategy of repositioning Brazil’s image abroad is an unprecedented success.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, Brazil’s record performance confirms the leading role of tourism as a vector of economic development, job creation and strengthening Brazil’s image abroad, in addition to signaling a promising scenario for the coming years, in line with the guidelines of the National Tourism Plan.
