If there was onelittle hope that the government and the authorities of the economic team managed to moderate inflation to bring it to 5.8% at the end of the year —within the new, more demanding target range that will be in effect from September (3% to 6%)— it disappeared in recent weeks after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, which led to a global escalation in food and energy prices, and which has several countries, including Uruguay, on edge. What consequences (economic and political) can this new breach leave the country to reduce the pace of price increases? That is what I will write to you about in this installment of Rincón y Misiones.
