Puerto Rico intensifies solidarity campaign with Venezuela

Maduro's warning that caused Lula da Silva "fear"

The Venezuela Solidarity Network in Puerto Rico has intensified its solidarity campaign, while raising its voice to demand the release of President Nicolás Maduro and the first combatant and deputy, Cilia Flores.

In that sense, Milagros Rivera, coordinator of the Network in this Caribbean nation, indicated that the organization maintains constant communication with Venezuela to “confront the falsehoods of the propagandists of hatred against Chavismo.” This is reported in a Prensa Latina article.

“At the same time, we have developed a campaign to get them to write to President Maduro and the first combatant Cilia to the prison where they are in New York, after their kidnapping in Caracas on January 3 by United States military forces,” said the also leader of the Committee of Solidarity with Cuba in San Juan.

Likewise, Rivera explained that she has had an important virtual conference with Representative Blanca Eekhout, from the Portuguesa state, who is president of the Commission of Communes and the Simón Bolívar Institute, accompanied by the general coordinator of the Cuba-Venezuela Mutual Solidarity Movement, Yhonny García Calles.

“In that virtual meeting last Thursday night, the generality of the member organizations of the Solidarity with Venezuela Network in Puerto Rico participated, which received extensive information and were able to exchange with the courageous Venezuelan leaders,” said the Puerto Rican activist.

Campaign to dismantle the lies surrounding Maduro’s kidnapping

Likewise, he emphasized his commitment to creating a campaign to dismantle the lies that have been created around the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and the first combatant, Cilia Flores.

“Those present joined the letter-writing campaign organized by the Cuba Solidarity Committee and will work on several activities, highlighting support for the protests planned by Mothers Against War,” Rivera said. At the same time, he noted that on February 1, simultaneous demonstrations will be held at the former Roosevelt Roads base, in Ceiba, at the Santiago camp in Salinas (south) and in Aguadilla (northwest).

It should be noted that, in addition to the Committee of Solidarity with Cuba and the Solidarity Network with Venezuela, the Promises are Over Day, Mothers Against War, Socialist Democracy and the Nationalist Party of Puerto Rico participate.

Added to the list are the Hostosiano National Independence Movement, the Puerto Rico Human Rights Committee, the US International Crimes Tribunal, the Puerto Rico Chapter of ALBA Movimientos, the Diaspora Pa’lante Collective and professor Ana López, from the Independence Front in New York and the teachers union.
