Santo Domingo.– The company Horizon Auto Logistics (HAL) confirmed that a contracted truck driver lost his life after falling into the Ozama River while carrying out a logistics operation in the Santo Domingo Port.
The General manager of the company, Daryelin Cabreraexplained that the accident occurred on Tuesday night, during a routine maneuver in the port’s operational area.
He indicated that, as soon as the event occurred, the company notified the competent authorities and activated the established security protocols, in coordination with the port administration.
He driver’s body was recovered by units of National District Fire Departmentwith the support of the Civil defense, and subsequently transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), in accordance with current legal procedures.
Cabrera assured that HAL has maintained constant collaboration with the authorities during the work of rescue and investigationin order to contribute to the complete clarification of the circumstances in which the event occurred.
Likewise, he expressed his solidarity with thethe relatives of the deceased and pointed out that the company has communicated directly with them to offer support and accompaniment in this time of pain.
Horizon Auto Logistics reiterated its commitment to operational safety, transparency and strict compliance with the regulations that govern the port logistics sector, and stated that it will continue to cooperate with the authorities in everything that is required.
