The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the Santiago province imposed preventive detention against an agent of the National Police accused by the homicide of a young man in the La Ceibita neighborhood, in the Pekín sector.
The judge Yiberty Polanco Herrán dictated three months of preventive detention against Jersin Encarnacion Vicenteaccused of being the author of the death of Miguel Antonio Miranda Flete, 23 years old.
A press release from the Public Ministry, issued this Wednesday, establishes that the accused provisionally faces charges for violating the type of crime described in the articles 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Codewhich typify the homicide.
The court ordered that he serve his prison sentence, which will be reviewed every three months, in the Manoguayabo Special Operations Center prison, in Santo Domingo West.
Shot in the head
During the hearing, trial prosecutor Heidys de León, representing the Public Ministrystated that the police officer committed the homicide of the victim, after he fired his service weapon and hit him in the head.
The events took place on December 25, 2025, around 7:30 in the morningwhen the police officer arrived at the scene accompanied by other uniformed officers, in response to a call from the community about a party that was taking place and that was generating noise pollution.
The investigation of the prosecution body, headed by the director of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Prosecutor’s Office, the court prosecutor Gerardo Ponceestablishes that when the police agents arrived at the scene the situation became violent and the agents launched tear gas bombs to control the situation.
The processed, Encarnacion Vicentefired his service weapon, a Glock 17, 9 millimeter caliber pistol, hitting Miranda Flete in the head. After remaining in a serious condition, the victim died four days later, on December 29, 2025, while receiving medical attention.
The Santiago Prosecutor’s Office deposited before the court the evidence collected, including the testimonies of people who, in a coherent manner, have recounted the events; so too documentary evidenceexpert and material, which were decisive for the court to make the decision.
Also available to the court was the audiovisual test in whose images it is observed when the accused shoots against the victim.
