Havana/The Health authorities of Ciego de Ávila They reported this Tuesday, through official meanswhich investigate several suspected cases of hepatitis detected in different municipalities of the province.
The information was confirmed by Dr. José Luis López González, deputy director of Epidemiology of the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, who explained that, after the detection of the first patients with symptoms compatible with the disease, the protocols established by the health system were activated.
However, no official figures have been specified on how many people are under study or which areas would be most affected. According to the official, samples and laboratory analyzes are being carried out to identify the type of hepatitis involved and determine its possible origin.
In parallel, technical teams carry out research in the communities where the patients live, with the aim of identifying common risk factors. Among the hypotheses being used are problems in the water supply or deficiencies in food handling, frequent causes of digestively transmitted diseases on the Island.

For more than six months, the Island has been facing hepatitis and arbovirus outbreaks; the health situation has been, in 2025, the most critical since the times of covid.
