The inauguration began with a minute of silence for the victims of the Adamuz train accident (Córdoba) and the new railway accident that occurred in Catalonia, events for which King Felipe and Leticia of Spain postponed their participation until next Thursday, the day on which their presence is expected in the Mexican pavilion.
The federal Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez, was in charge of inaugurating the Mexican wing, along with governors such as that of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri, that of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, and that of Guanajuato, Libia García. Immediately attention focused on Mexico, the activities, dancers, catrinas and ball players that walk the halls of the fair.

Pavilions like the one in Mexico City welcome visitors with characters such as the purple jacaranda tree, characteristic of the capital in spring, Mexican wrestlers, catrinas and even an immersive experience with the popular video game “Fornite” where a character tours the country’s Capital while collecting coins in “chilango” scenarios that tell you about the city.
Mexico occupies a central place in this edition as it is the Partner Country of FITUR 2026. Its presence stands out at a key moment for the country, after a tourism growth of 13.9% in 2025, according to SECTUR. pic.twitter.com/cSRKI3ZKHw
