He remained in an Intensive Care Unit for 8 days.
News Colombia.
In the early hours of this Wednesday, January 21, the deputy director of the Neiva prison, Cr., died. Renato Solanowho had remained hospitalized for eight days after being seriously injured in an armed attack that occurred on January 13. The official was unable to overcome the two shots he suffered in the abdomen and chest, a fact that had already caused the death of an 11-year-old boy and that keeps the judicial authorities on alert.

The attack occurred when the deputy director was traveling in a van with the director of the Neiva prison, Édgar Enrique Rodríguez Muñoz, and the son of that Inpec official, an 11-year-old minor who died at the scene. During the journey, armed men intercepted the vehicle and fired indiscriminately.

After the attack, the deputy director was rushed to a healthcare center in Neiva, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. His health condition was classified as critical from the first moment, with highly complex injuries that required several surgical interventions and permanent medical monitoring.

Despite the efforts of the medical staff, his condition did not improve as the days passed. Finally, the authorities confirmed his death, news that was communicated to his family and the management of the prison, generating a profound impact among his co-workers.
The attack presents several atypical elements, since the director of the Neiva prison had been in charge for a few days and, according to official reports, there were no prior alerts or threats against him, as explained by the Minister of Justice. Andrés Idárraga.

For this reason, the minister insists on the urgency of deepening the investigations to clarify the motivations for the attack and determine if the official was really the main target of the violent act or if it was a message addressed to the institutions.
