Delcy Rodríguez will visit the United States soon, according to the White House

Delcy Rodríguez Memoria y Cuenta

Delcy Rodríguez has said that if she had to visit the United States as a representative of the Venezuelan Executive, she would do so “standing, walking, not dragged.” President Donald Trump has endorsed Rodríguez’s leadership, ensuring that he functions under the tutelage of his administration

Delcy Rodríguez plans to visit Washington after the capture of Nicolás Maduro by US forces, a White House official informed the EFE agencywithout detailing dates or agenda of the Chavista leader.

The announcement about Rodríguez’s trip comes days after a meeting between Donald Trump and the opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, María Corina Machado, whom the president said yesterday could “involve” in some way in the future of Venezuela.

Trump has endorsed the Executive led by Rodríguez since last January 4, ensuring that it operates under the tutelage of his administration and is complying with all of Washington’s demands, including access to the Venezuelan oil sector and the shipment of millions of barrels of crude oil to the US for marketing.

“I was against Venezuela, but now I love Venezuela,” Trump said at the same press conference, where he added that he has been “working very well” with Rodríguez and assured that Maduro’s former vice president has freed “many political prisoners.”

On the same day as the meeting between Trump and Machado, last Thursday, the Chavista leader met in Caracas with the CIA Director John Ratcliffewith whom he addressed security issues and opportunities for economic cooperation in an effort to bring positions closer.

Ratcliffe is the highest-ranking US official and the first member of Trump’s Cabinet to visit Venezuela following the January 3 military operation that resulted in the capture and transfer of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, to New York to stand trial on alleged “narcoterrorism” charges.

Rodríguez has said that if he had to visit Washington as leader of Venezuela he would do so “standing, walking, not dragged.”

Machado, for his part, has assured that Delcy Rodríguez does not represent the Venezuelan people, she is only “doing part of the dirty work” and carrying out orders in “this complex phase”. Likewise, he has said that he trusts that there will be an “orderly transition” in Venezuela.
