After three days of dialogue, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) reported that the original community of Urinsaya, located in the province of Espinar in Cusco, agreed to lift the road blockade of the mining corridor that had restricted copper deliveries from the mine The Bambas of the Chinese company MMG.
In this sense, the community of Urinsaya, led by its president, Felix Chilo Huacso, and his secretary, Percy Checco, indicated, through a document sent to the PCM, that a 30-day truce has been granted.
In this way, the community of Urinsaya abandons its forceful measures, with the aim of evaluating the exclusion of the peasant community from the area of direct influence. Thus, the path of the mining corridor is completely unlocked.
“This decision is the result of the different meetings held in recent days by the Undersecretary of Dialogue Management of the PCM, Cristian Quispe Montañez, and the team of specialists from the Secretariat of Social Management and Dialogue of the PCM and the Ministry of Energy and mines”, indicated the PCM.
It should be noted that, among the requests indicated in the proposal of the Urinsaya leaders, is the recognition of the community as an area of direct environmental and social influence.
