The Cuban journalist and writer Andy Jorge Blanco will present this Thursday, January 22 at the Casa Tomada bookstore in Seville, at 7:00 p.m. (local time), his first collection of poemswhich is titled Cities named after womenin an event in which he will be accompanied by the writer and repentista Alexis Diaz-Pimientaprologue of the book.
The collection of poems brings together 28 texts featuring women-cities, including Seville, Havana, Luanda and Gaza, all linked to the author’s personal experiences.
Cities named after womenpublished in 2025, already has been previously presented in Sevillehas passed through Málaga and Cádiz, and will arrive in Valencia on February 19.
In the prologue, Díaz-Pimienta defines the book as “intimate and nostalgic poetry, immigrant poetry; barefoot, clean, honest, unshaven poetryin which it is narrated and portrayed with a wide angle (sometimes), with selfies of just waking up (most of the time), so that we can travel with the poet the Otherness, with a capital letter: life outside.
The presentation will combine readings of poems from the book and other unpublished works by the author with poems and the poetic improvisation in tenths by Díaz-Pimientain addition to musical interventions. The presentation will also feature the participation of the poet and repentista from Murcia, Patricia Navarrospecial guest.
