This Monday the AEBU Official Financial Sector Council participated at the branch level in the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, in order to move towards the signing of a new collective agreement for public bank workers.
The event was accompanied by a mobilization in front of the door of the National Labor Directorate, where the event took place. Dozens of colleagues made themselves felt and supported the delegation that participated in the negotiation.
After the meeting, the president of the Council, Roberto Umpiérrez, told Radio Camacuá that the first objective set by the union for this area was achieved: that the negotiation resumes its course of “good faith” and the achievements enshrined in previous collective agreements are not called into question.
Umpiérrez stressed that this attitude of the Government, communicated to the workers on December 30, had led to the declaration of pre-conflict. “At today’s meeting we arrived mobilized and pressuring, and we conveyed to the Executive Branch that we were not going to negotiate in that way, if there was a loss of rights,” he pointed out.
“Once this situation has been overcome, negotiations are now being resumed, but this does not mean that we are in a flower garden. The Executive is tough and it is not a simple negotiation,” said Umpiérrez.
On Tuesday, January 20, the Official Financial Sector Council will meet to make a political assessment and continue taking steps forward towards the next branch area, which will be on Wednesday, February 4.
It is also expected to convene a Meeting of Delegates, initially scheduled for Monday, January 26. This collective meeting will take place in the Camacuá Room and will give 72 hours notice to colleagues in the companies so that it can be adequately prepared and discussed.
