The Prime Minister, Ernesto Álvarez, spoke about the motion of censure that is being promoted against José Jerí for unofficial meetings with Chinese businessmen.
The premier listed the reasons why it is necessary for him to continue in power. “If President Jerí’s government falls, we will plunge into deep chaos, because no one is going to want to assume that responsibility while in a campaign, and it would fall to any congressman without electoral aspirations and without a party,” he told the press.
He added that the Executive must focus on “basic tasks” such as “guaranteeing transparent elections, combating insecurity, as well as guaranteeing economic stability and political stability.”
