Research released this Monday (19) by the Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry of Rio de Janeiro (ABIH-RJ) indicates that the holiday celebrating the day of Saint Sebastian, patron saint of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, is increasing hotel occupancy in the interior of the state, whose average occupancy, at the moment, is 79.81%.
The president of ABIH-RJ, José Domingo Bouzon, highlighted that the interior of the state has many options for tourists, “from cities in the mountains to paradisiacal beaches, combined with a lot of culture and high-quality gastronomy. And visitors have a very diverse hotel network at their disposal, from inns to international standard resorts.”
Among the most sought after regions are Miguel Pereira (92.30%), Arraial do Cabo (91.10%), Angra dos Reis (90.10%), Paraty (83.50%), Armação dos Búzios (80.50%), Nova Friburgo (79.80%), Rio das Ostras (78.20%), Cabo Frio (77.80%), Macaé (75.30%), Petrópolis (74.40%), Barra do Piraí/Ipiabas (74.20%), Vassouras (74.10%), Valença/Conservatória (73.40%), Teresópolis (72.60%) and Itatiaia/Penedo (66.70%).
For the Secretary of State for Tourism of Rio de Janeiro (Setur-RJ), Gustavo Tutuca, these numbers confirm that the strategy of strengthening tourism in the interior is on the right track. “We have invested heavily in promoting destinations in the interior, showing that Rio de Janeiro goes far beyond the capital. These occupancy rates show that tourists are responding positively, boosting the local economy and generating jobs and income in tourist regions.”
According to him, the good performance is a direct reflection of the continuous tourism promotion work carried out by Setur-RJ and TurisRio, which has been intensifying actions to publicize destinations in the interior, valuing the diversity of experiences offered by the state’s tourist regions.
