Cubides had been reported missing since last January 15, after his trace was lost in the north of Bogotá. His case generated concern among his loved ones and colleagues, who for several days held out hope of knowing his whereabouts.
According to the known information, the teacher was last seen in the vicinity of the Clínica del Country, where he had gone with his wife and son for a pediatric emergency. The minor remained under medical observation with his mother, while Cubides decided to return home while awaiting medical discharge.
According to the story given by his wife, the professor took a taxi around 10:00 p.m. on that Thursday, January 15. That was the last contact that was had with him, which began the alert for his disappearance and the subsequent search.
The body of Neill Felipe Cubides was found lifeless this Monday, January 19, in a rural area of the town of Usme, south of Bogotá. The discovery confirmed the worst outcome for his family and for the university community that closely followed the case.
Apparently, the sum of 6,250,000 pesos was withdrawn from the professor’s bank account in three different transactions.

The competent authorities took over the investigation to clarify the circumstances under which his death occurred. From the Externado University they reiterated that the official entities will be in charge of providing information on the progress of the case, while maintaining institutional support for the teacher’s family in this moment of pain.
