A video recorded on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 has once again placed President José Jerí at the center of the controversy. The images, recorded between 6:08 and 6:11 in the afternoon and released by Cuarto Poder, show the head of state entering an establishment located at Paruro 763, in the heart of Lima, to meet with the Chinese businessman Zhihua Yang, in a meeting that does not appear on the presidential agenda nor was it officially communicated.
This is the president’s second revealed visit to the same businessman, after photographs were released days ago showing Jerí, hooded, discreetly entering a chifa owned by Yang, also outside of any public record.
In the recording, the president appears with dark glasses and accompanied by staff from the Government Palace, going up with the businessman to the second level of the Market Capon premises, in an activity outside the usual protocols of an official activity.
Although Jerí has acknowledged knowing Yang for a long time and visiting him on other occasions, in a video broadcast on social networks he assured that he never received irregular orders or requests from the businessman.
The context of the visit is especially sensitive. That same January 6, hours before the meeting, the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima closed the premises for violating municipal regulations by making a turn other than the authorized one. The news program revealed that he only had a permit for retail sales, but had made wholesale sales. Despite the measure, the establishment opened its doors to receive the president, who arrived accompanied by a State security agent and a young woman who was also part of his official delegation during activities carried out that day.
Inside the premises, without clients or commercial activity due to the closure, the president holds a prolonged phone call while the businessman remains by his side, and makes gestures of annoyance or annoyance under Yang’s attentive gaze.
