Ronald Johnson receives Mexican officials at the US Embassy; highlights security cooperation

“It was a pleasure to receive some of our main partners, with whom we work 24/7, in our house,” said the diplomat.

Johnson highlighted the achievements made between the administrations of Donald Trump and President Claudia Sheinbaum. He asserted that in 2025 progress was made in border security, reducing illegal migration, combating fentanyl trafficking and protecting “thousands of lives.”

“Through strong cooperation between our governments, we secured the border and saved tens of thousands of lives,” he said.

However, he acknowledged that challenges still persist and reaffirmed the commitment to continue advancing in 2026 on common goals that benefit both countries.

The message was accompanied by a video in which the ambassador is shown alongside Mexican officials, including Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, Secretary of the Navy; Juan Ramón de la Fuente, Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE); Ernestina Godoy, head of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and Roberto Velasco, undersecretary for North America of the SRE, among other attendees.
