Yennifer Paredesthe former president’s sister-in-law Pedro Castillo and today a candidate for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies for the Together for Peru party, seeks to prevent the tax investigation against her from continuing for the so-called Anguía case.
Paredes, it is recalled, is investigated by the Public Ministry along with her siblings Lilia Paredes, Walter Paredes and David Paredes. The former mayor of Anguía José Medina is also involved in the process. All of them are accused by the Prosecutor’s Office as members of a criminal organization.
This network was dedicated to fraudulent public tenders and would have operated in the departments of Lima, Cajamarca and Amazonas during the Castillo government that ended on December 7, 2022.
At that time, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, the organization would have favored front companies by granting them the approval of public works related to the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation.
Now, the legal defense of Yennifer Paredes has presented a request for time control with which they would like the Public Ministry to conclude the preparatory investigation stage. Similar appeals have been raised by other people under investigation, such as the former mayor of the Cajamarca district of Anguía, José Medina.
Paredes, it is recalled, is currently a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies for the Together for Peru party led by Congressman Roberto Sánchez.
Along with her, Irma and José Mercedes Castillo Terrones, both brothers of the former president who is being held in the Barbadillo prison, are also running. While the first aspires to the Chamber of Deputies, the second aims to reach the Senate.
