The Dominican Society of Pulmonology and Thorax Surgery yesterday, Saturday, held its solemn act of transfer of commandthrough which the new board of directors that will lead the entity during the period 2026-2028, chaired by the Dr. Maribel Jorge García.
During the ceremony, Dr. Jorge García assumed the presidency of society, leading a management team composed of Dr. Miguel Ángel Valdez as vice president; Dr. Rafael Garrido, acting as treasurer; and Dr. Marika Pérez, as secretary.
The directive is completed with the vowels Dr. Joel Castillo, Dr. María Arias and Dr. Juan Recio, details a statement.
The organizational structure of the new management includes regional coordinations in it North, South, East and the Greater Santo Domingoled by doctors Miguelina Jáquez, Ana Carolina Montás, Yaritza Montilla, Fe María Peña, Yaici Terrero and Lissabel Guzmán, as well as doctors Raymundo Hernández, Ángel Pérez and Johandry Javier.
Likewise, the board will have a Scientific Committeechaired by the Dr. Wendy Morel; a Courses and Conferences Committee, coordinated by doctors Fernanda Espeso and Ada de los Santos; and a Advisory Committee made up of former presidents and leaders of the specialty, among them doctors Alfredo Matos, Plutarco Arias, Freddy Abad, Benjamín Hernández and Julio Burdiez, as well as doctors Elizabeth Muñoz.
The Dr. Maribel Jorge García, internist and pulmonologisthas a recognized professional career and has held previous positions within the company, including presidency of the Northern Pulmonologists and the Pulmonologists Graduated from the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital.
Scientific agenda
By assuming the presidencyDr. Jorge highlighted that her management will promote a comprehensive scientific agenda focused on addressing the main respiratory diseasesjoint work with other medical specialties and the patient as the central axis of all actions.
Likewise, he reaffirmed his commitment to leading a plural managementinclusive and transparentoriented to role strengthening of the society as a national reference in the academic, ethical and scientific development of pulmonology and chest surgery.
With this act of swearing-inthe Dominican Society of Pulmonology and Thorax Surgery begins a new institutional stage with the objective of contributing to the well-being of the Dominican population and the strengthening of the respiratory health.
